Fully Known and Truly Loved

When it comes to showing God’s love to the LGBTQ community, most churches are lost!

Fully Known and Truly Loved is a non-profit organization that seeks to help churches to recognize blind spots, grow in their understanding, and reach out in a loving way to LGBTQ people who are eager to be part of a caring faith community.

We can also help you show God’s love to all who are already a part of your church!

About Us

Our Mission

A recent study found that 86% of LGBTQ people grew up in a faith community. The majority of them left after age 18. But here is an amazing finding from the study: 76% (over 8 million people in the U.S.!) are open to returning to the faith of their youth! Contrast that with the fact that only 9% of the general population have that same openness, and you can see that churches have a HUGE opportunity to rebuild the relationships with those who left!

In his book “The Meaning of Marriage” Tim Keller writes,
“To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything.”

How can churches be places where all people, including those from the LGBTQ community, can be Fully Known and Truly Loved?

What People Say

Mark has spoken at King of Kings and his heart and words come from Scripture first, with grace and truth. The care and wisdom Mark brings on the topic of LGBTQ+ come with depth, love, and care for Jesus and for all people. If the church would heed his approach and wisdom from the scriptures, there would be no question that God’s grace and truth bring life and fulfillment to all. Mark will be a recurring voice in our community as we press into Transforming Lives as our purpose, by connecting people to God, Each Other and the World.

Greg Griffith, Senior Pastor, King of Kings, Omaha, NE

Our church family was working through a difficult situation. My son had recently come out as gay and our leadership and some members were struggling with how to respond. After a two-hour call with Mark I had a new perspective and strategy for helping our leaders and church through the issue. Personally, Mark helped me think through not only my role as pastor but as a dad as well.

Senior Pastor of a large church in FL

We brought in Mark to speak to our staff and the families in our church and school community, because we knew we needed help thinking through how best to love and serve friends and family who are part of the LBGTQ community while still holding on to our foundational values and Biblical convictions about the sensitive subject. Mark did an outstanding job guiding what otherwise could have been a very emotional and tricky conversation!

Micah Greiner, Senior Pastor, St. Peter, Arlington Heights, IL

Mark came to speak with our staff and ministry leaders in order to help us navigate this difficult but vital issue. His grace filled approach was only matched by his deep knowledge of God’s word. Mark did a wonderful job of helping us to understand the LGBTQ+ community and more importantly gave us great wisdom on how we might share Christ’s love with them. I believe Mark will continue to be vital to our church and partners as we seek how to best share Christ’s love with ALL.

Drunk People

The song “Drunk People” by country singer Ryan Hurd contains the line, “Come as you are, this place ain’t got no steeple.” He is referencing a bar where everyone is welcome, no matter what their past, how they struggle, or who they happen to be. In this particular bar you can come as you are……

The Super Bowl, Politics, and Jesus

I was at a Super Bowl party with a bunch of friends, most of whom do not have a church home or a connection to Jesus. There was a huge projection screen for all to see and a state of the art sound system filling the room. As is normal for the big game, the…

The Pope Weighs In

This past week Pope Francis issued a statement that allows priests throughout the entire Roman Catholic Church to bless same-sex couples. This was not really a surprise, as a letter he had sent to two conservative cardinals laid the groundwork for this decision. Even so, his words sent shock waves throughout the religious community. People…
